HQ uses a powerful search mechanism known as ‘text-indexing’. This allows HQ to rapidly find one or several words in all the email, documents, notes, and so on for your entire organisation – subject, of course, to your security rights.
To search for anything in HQ, start typing one (or several) words into the HQ search bar. You can find the search bar on the right of the main HQ menu.
Searching for People, Businesses, Groups or Jobs
As you type, after the first three letters, HQ will find a short list of the most likely People, Businesses or Jobbags that you may be looking for. If this happens the searchbar will look something like the illustration below:
If the drop-down list contains something you are looking for, then either select it by using the up and down arrows – and then hit return, or clicking on it using the mouse.
The search bar will directly you to an appropriate place – depending on the item you selected:
Person – will direct you to the card and history of the selected person.
Business – will direct you to the card and history of the relevant business.
Jobs – will open the relevant Jobbag directly.
Groups – will open the relevant group for updating.
Searching for a specific Word or Words
To search for a specific word (or for several specific words) simply type the word (or words) in full and hit return.
In the illustration below, the word ‘Selestial’ was searched for.
A line of buttons appears below the searchbar and these indicate how many of each type of item have been found. To see the items, simply click on the relevant button.
In some cases more than 20 items have been found. Search results are shown in blocks of 20, so you should use the page buttons (|< < >) to move between pages.
Where a very large number have been found (typically more than 200), the the button is labelled with the message “>199” as we can see above.
